WineFest No. 15 artwork, Legacy, by Diane Hoffmann.

Featured Artist

Diane Schmidt Hoffmann

A native of the Minneapolis area, Hoffmann has been sculpting, drawing and painting since the age of 10. She sold her first oil painting series based on the theme of the four seasons at age 14.  At that time she was under the instruction of a well-known landscape painter as well as concentrating in arts, drama and music in high school. She continued her arts education at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and received her BFA.

During her early career Hoffmann expanded to illustration, design, and retail visual merchandising. Successful in visual merchandising management she lent her creative skills to window displays on Nicollet Mall, numerous department stores, marketing events, fashion shows and trade shows in the five-state region for over a decade.  She also creates murals, faux finishes and other decorative paintings for several clients. She then moved into publication design and has been involved in that work until the present time.

Her interest in returning to her first love of painting has taken hold in recent years again. To further her artistic abilities, she continues to take classes in various painting media, participates in workshops with leaders in the field, and she continues to interact with other artists and arts organization focused on developing her talent.

Diane has a special connection with the WineFest event and has contributed to the artists barrel work since WineFest 11. Diane’s late husband was treated at the University of Minnesota Fairview Brain Tumor Center for over a decade and she contributes his 16 year survival after diagnosis to the care he was provided with there. Her artistic contributions to WineFest are personally heartfelt and her way of giving back.
